An exceptional tetrachalkon from Lakedaimon (Sparta)

LAKONIA. Lakedaimon (Sparta). Circa 48-35 BC. Tetrachalkon (Bronze, 20 mm, 5.65 g, 11 h). Diademed and draped bust of Lakedaimon to right. Rev. Λ-A Eagle standing right with closed wings; to left, monogram of ΔA; to right, monogram of ΘΕ. BCD Peloponnesos 899.4 (same obverse die). Grunauer XVI, 10. In exceptional condition for this issue and with a splendid dark olive-green patina. Minor flan crack and light spots of corrosion, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
